Comprehensive Eye Exam

Comprehensive eye exams use a series of advanced tests and evaluations to provide far more information about your vision and your eye health.  In addition to checking for refractive eye errors, your eye doctor will screen you for common eye disease by evaluating the external and internal health of your eyes, including dilation.

Pediatric Eye Exams

A child’s first eye exam should be between 6 months and 1 year of age.  Many vision conditions are asymptomatic or not readily recognized, and will not prompt a patient, caregiver, or parent to seek a comprehensive eye and vision examination.  Your child’s vision is crucial as they grow, and it is up to us to teach them how they should be able to see the world.  We provide our exams in a comfortable environment where we can teach your child about the importance of their vision.

Preventative Wellness Testing

With advancements in technology we are able to assess your unique individual risk patterns and provide medical intervention for most ocular diseases at an earlier stage.  Take control of your eye health with our Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD) testing, peripheral visual field testing, and our widefield retinal imaging.

Medical Eye Exams

We provide specialized care for patients with Glaucoma, Cataracts, Dry Eye, Keratoconus, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes, Hypertension and Plaquenil use.  During your vision exam if your doctor discovers a medical condition that will require further testing and follow-up, the follow-up that results is a medical eye exam.  This exam focuses on further evaluation, additional testing, and a recommended treatment plan.

Emergency Eye Care

Our eye doctors can diagnose and treat a range of eye emergencies, from mild to severe. Our goal is to resolve the condition, relieve your painful symptoms, and prevent any further damage to the eye. For true eye emergencies, we can usually see patients the same day.

Specialty Contact Lenses

Each eye is unique and must be evaluated prior to fitting a contact lens and on an annual basis. To help you see and feel great, we offer a range of contact lenses to suit your individual needs, from traditional soft contact lenses to Rigid Gas Permeable (RGPs) and scleral lenses.  Our friendly and experienced team is here to help you find the perfect pair of contacts so you can see clearly and comfortably.

Dry Eye Management

Ocular surface disease is more than an uncomfortable inconvenience and can lead to significant visual consequences if left untreated.  An accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan is essential for clear and comfortable vision.  With our training, experience, and state-of-the-art diagnostic instruments you will learn the root cause of your symptoms and learn about dry eye solutions for your unique needs.

Myopia Management

Myopia can affect more than your child’s ability to see without glasses.  Myopia tends to progress as your child grows, worsening their vision.  If unaddressed, myopia can increase their risk of eye disease.  Myopia control treatments include special types of spectacle lenses, soft contact lenses, orthokeratology, and atropine eye drops. At your initial consultation, your eye doctor will determine which treatment option will work best for you child.

Optomap Retinal Imaging

Eye Associates of Winter Park offers the optomap® as an important part of your comprehensive eye exam. The optomap produces an image that is unique and provides your doctor with a high-resolution 200° image in order to ascertain the health of your retina. This is much wider than a traditional 45° image. Many eye problems can develop without you knowing, in fact, you may not even notice any change in your sight – fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be seen with a thorough exam of the retina.

Benefits of an optomap Image

  • Optomap facilitates early protection from vision impairment or blindness

  • Early detection of life-threatening diseases like cancer, stroke, and cardiovascular disease

  • The unique optomap ultra-widefield view helps your eye care practitioner detect early signs of retinal disease more effectively and efficiently than with traditional eye exams.

  • Early detection means successful treatments can be administered and reduces the risk to your sight and health.

  • The optomap is fast, easy, and comfortable for anyone. The entire image process consists of you looking into the device one eye at a time.

  • The optomap images are shown immediately on a computer screen so we can review it with you.
